Lucent Wins 3-year, $780 Mln Contract for Sprint PCS Network April 21 (Bloomberg) -- Lucent Technologies Inc., the world's largest maker of phone equipment, said it won a three-year contract valued at least $780 million to supply equipment and services for Sprint Corp. PCS Group's wireless network. The award is in addition to the previously announced $2.5 billion in contracts for the first two phases of Sprint's new wireless network. Sprint PCS is the wireless arm of Sprint Corp., the No. 3 U.S. long distance phone company. Lucent will provide additional equipment and services allowing Sprint PCS to expand its coverage to meet demand. Lucent will provide network infrastructure equipment and services, including base stations and switches.
