Hello Mr. Van Acker:
they have just started discussions with Fujitsu; in fact someone from HTCH is currently meeting with them in Japan

Echo to Ron M--excellent notes. Thank you.

The someone in Japan is Rick Penn (heads S&M) who is normally there for the conference calls (Penn is a favorite of Wayne Fortun). I wonder why they did not link Penn in to the CC via telephone--not a big deal. Fortun sounded a little anxious. Appropriate. Sounds like they are trying to ride the razor's edge, but carefully...bet some of them don't need much coffee in the morning to get going....

My guess is HTCH may trade a little choppy until it settles into a trading range. Then news in the industry from a major customer about a program or an intermediate PR from Hutchinson may swing the stock price significantly. I would think they would have to report on any joint developments they mentioned are in talks. I think they would speak to demand. I highly doubt any releases about milestones for the mentioned internal product development programs. Next CC material though. I'd say downside cannot be less than 110% book (16-17 $/sh) and also factoring in the next quarter may be flat. When HTCH is in money-making mode, the downside spikes are very brief--a half day or less at the bottom. I think upside mid-30's yet this year if demand averages out as is likely to be the case. I think the other PC-related, but very fluffy stocks, recent sharply down market reaction to flattening PC growth translated to an over-reaction in the HDD sector, selectively to HTCH. HTCH does not look like a fluffy stock.
Best regards,
m
