I don't think it is being blinded by the technology but rather a belief that the G* business plan is much better than Iridium's. G* can offer its service at $.35 per minute, and at that price the demand will naturally be much higher than what Iridium will need to charge with its much higher cost structure. G* business strategy with its carrier partners should give it a significant marketing advantage. And, the fact that Iridium has gone first and made errors provides G* with the opportunity to avoid those errors. I also personally believe that since the potential customers are probably the most sophisticated end users, many are waiting for G* to come on line so they can compare the two services and make the best choice. Why take an expensive service when a lower-priced service will be operating soon?
