Let's start with the fact that you didnt read my message, otherwise you would have seen the reference to "in the future". If you dont think computers are going to drop dramatically in price over the next 3 years, you need to take a course in component integration, or check the current state of the graphics controller industry or the sound card industry or the ethernet card industry or the SDRAM industry. All those components are plunging in price and each industry has literally reduced the number of components in their products down to ONE CHIP. (and those are the high-end products)

The sony playstation does everything a gamer would want, as does a nintendo 64. They both cost under 200 dollars. You dont hear anyone saying "I will never buy a game machine that costs under 200 dollars" because they ALL cost under 200 bucks.

I'll forgive you for not understanding these concepts, because as you say, your specialty is jewelrey, not electronics.
