I've gone back and forth on the diversification thing. Yes, diversification can cushion the hit when something goes wrong, but it also dilutes the reward when things go right. These days I'm inclined to limit my diversification in the stock market; my portfolio is quite concentrated. My diversification comes from having my house and cars paid off and other extra-market factors.

JMHO, of course. YMMV.
