I disagree. Until the DoubleClick news release, USAB seemed like a small regional bank that "claimed" to want to go internet, but that was not making any real effort to do so. In fact, I hadn't seen any mention in their past PR's about targeting the entire Nation. At least the DoubleClick "partnership" convinces me that they are going to target the country, not just Pennsylvania.

It does seem likely that USAB will start running into cash flow problems when they begin paying for their internet initiative. But that will just convince investors that they really are an internet company (they need to start losing money, don't they?)

Regarding the criticisms that the interface is too slow and that people don't want to be entertained when they go to their online bank: I think it's ludicrous for any of us to try to predict what will and won't be popular on the internet. I do think USAB will need to start using their flashy technology to try to sell financial instruments by educating us creatively (but there I go, trying to predict how the internet will be used.)
