THC : The problem with "e" anything is that it exists only in cyberspace. When you switch off your computer --- pouf --- it's gone! And your paper money, too. Only that went into someone's pocket.

If you really want to transact in gold or silver why don't you use real coins? There's no shortage. At least they're more substantial than a currency that exists only in RAM --- and in someone's imagination! If you want to give value when you trade, you could also barter.

I have never been one to complain about fiat money. To me paper money is just a means to an end --- not an end in itself. If one fears inflation, there are many hedges --- bullion itself, stocks, derivatives, property, works of art, your own business, stamps etc. The list is endless.

Sorry, can't see the use for egold --- except for the guy who sells it! Just like snake oil.
