Image Entertainment Selects Minerva Compressionist 250 for Its Growing DVD Business
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 1999--Minerva Systems announced today that Image Entertainment, a leading licensee and distributor of optical disc programming, has selected the Minerva Compressionist 250 MPEG-2 VBR encoding system to support its growing DVD business.
''Bringing the Minerva systems to Image goes a long way to bring our DVD strategy full-circle. With our growing number of DVD titles, bringing this work in-house allows Image to better control the DVD pre-mastering process. Ultimately, this will result in substantial production cost savings on a per-title basis. Our goal is to have the Minerva systems in place and operational this summer,'' said Martin W. Greenwald, Image's president and CEO.
''We are delighted that Image Entertainment has selected Minerva for its DVD business. Our system will enable Image to provide the best technology and quality for its DVD programming,'' said Sami Asfour, Minerva's vice president of sales and marketing.
Image Entertainment is outfitting its facility with the most advanced DVD production tools. The Minerva DVD pre-mastering system includes the award-winning Compressionist 250 for studio-quality encoding of MPEG-2 VBR video assets, and the Minerva Audio Compressionist® for real-time encoding of 1 to 6 channels of Dolby Digital(TM) (AC-3) audio streams.
