Hey, I want to tell you a fictitious story about a
company called
"NO ONE CARES",
this corporation went public
with all of the hoopla,
all of the limelight,
times were booming,
the industry was booming,
the reimbursers,
were reimbursing,
the referrers were referring,
you didn't have to get approval,
to take a pee,
you didn't have to stand in line for Medi-Cal,
you didn't have to get denied,
500 million times,
for Medi-Cal insurance,
because they just flat out didn't pay,
so everyone just treated them for free,
and that was a good thing,
and everyone was happy,
the tax payers,
who didn't look at the beans at the end of the
day didn't care,
then someone had a bright idea,
to hire the MBA's,
geeze i can't stand the MBA's,
and i am biased,
they are so smart,
in their fine suits,
and 200 dollar ties,
damn,
i wish i had a 200 dollar tie,
so anyway,
this corporation "NO ONE CARES"
had 100 million dollars in the coffers,
to acquire the moon,
they jumped over the moon,
they acquired everyone who had a license,
they acquired everyone who had a computer,
a 486 with 4 megs of ram,
damn, those things cost about 4500 dollars
back then,
they were fast,
and they saved time,
and they made it easy to print up those bills,
then the government got the bright idea,
that they could withhold payment,
or someone,
who the heck was that,
who got that bright idea,
was it the managed care people,
was it those smart KAISER guys,
who told their stories,
was it the Physical Therapist's who were
driving 250 thousand dollar auto's,
i don't know who got the idea,
but someone did,
someone said,
shit,
everyone is just a little too fricken rich,
and the MBA's who come out of school with 2
years of education,
want to make more,
we want to own the world,
after all,
medicine is all about the dollars,
so we can bill,
and we can be aggressive,
and we can acquire,
and we can shuffle numbers around,
shit we have 100 million in the coffers,
we can do it,
we are MBA's,
the doctors are just idiots,
all they know how to do is do surgery,
geeze,
why is it that doctors
are now paid for one heart surgery,
if they screw up,
and the dude,
needs another surgery,
why does the doctor have to eat it,
why do they have to do it for free,
it's not the doctors fault
the patient didn't thrive,
it's not the doctors fault
the wound got infected,
make the county hospital pay for it,
they have enough money to make it from,
week to week,
and day to day,
they will survive,
they can just close down another floor,
if they get in cash flow problems,
anyway,
back to the MBA's who are the smart folks
in all of this,
and it's not KARMA,
it's not years of abuse,
that got us where we are today,
it's not anything like that,
it's all about those damn MBA's,
because they fired the first shot,
they shot that dude,
across the bow,
and hit me square in the stomach,
and that pissed me off,
after all we have 100 million in the coffers,
and we can acquire whomever,
and wheverver we want,
then those little dudes,
those pesky little dudes,
with no overhead,
and fiesty as can be,
they come in to the picture,
they don't have a 100 million in the coffers,
but they are pesky,
they have one man offices,
they have 1 person doing the work
of 7,
they are underbidding the crap out of those contracts,
that we just paid 50 million to acquire,
and we have a nice corporate office,
Hey "NO ONE CARES" still has 50 million in the coffers,
and we have MBA at the HELM...
go mr MBA,
you are our leader,
go mr MBA,
now those corporate offices are a little nice,
but the high doors,
and those high walls,
make me freeze my ass off,
it's not really a warm place,
i just freeze my ass off,
when i go in there,
so i don't go in there,
meanwhile the pesky little dudes,
are out their skarfing up contracts,
and running them off of a shoestring,
and making a killing,
they are closing down offices,
they arn't opening them up,
why did those 10 doc in the boxes,
close down,
in sacramento,
i can't quite figure that out,
what the heck is wrong with that,
what is up with that,
can't the MBA's do something about that,
maybe they could buy them too,
the great public corporation,
"NO ONE CARES",
did eventually eat it,
MR MBA took his couple million,
ran for the hills,
i think he opened a care home,
he never wanted to hear anything,
the dude,
put wax in his ears,
just so he wouldn't know what
was going on,
i couldn't believe it,
that freezing cold corporate office,
closed down,
and the only one's who were left,
were the really bitter,
corporate/semi clinicians,
who just walked around and beat everyone,
over the head with a baseball bat,
telling about the job cuts,
and salary cuts,
and lost contracts,
man,
that job would really suck,
contractors did not get paid,
because there was no money,
i think managed care will destroy,
the rest of the country,
just like it has destroyed california,
i think the moral has never been lower,
so maybe we are at the bottom,
at least in california....
