Charles, you are correct. The IBM PC-XT used an 8088, not an 8086. It had the clock souped up from 4.77 MHz to 8 MHz which accounted for its improved performance over the PC-classic. I believe the only mfg. to use an 8086 in an x86 machine was DEC, a big dud (both the product AND the company).
