Hyundai Relents In Semicon Deal With LG

Settlement of the Big Deal in the semiconductor sector
is finally in sight, with sources confirming Wednesday that LG and Hyundai have narrowed down the selling price of LG Semicon to the range of W2.6-2.7 trillion. One official at the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC)said that Hyundai finally yielded and raised the up-front cash payment figure of W1 trillion it had been offering up
to W1.5 trillion. The remainder will be paid in installments over a
two-year period, rather than the three-year period Hyundai had been pushing for. LG officials commented
that the W2.6-2.7 trillion figure is still lower than what they wanted, but the total lump sum could be changed, depending on the proportion of the total that Hyundai was willing to pay in cash.
