Okay, so you do understand at least part of the Apple/Microsoft deal, that's good. Have you heard about the sharing of the patents with Microsoft's one-way payment to Apple of eight figures minimum over the next couple years? Btw, that's on top of the $150 million investment at market price.

Watch out for that present tense. The only real acrimony between the two current management teams is over QuickTime/multimedia. (Indeed, it was the fact that Microsoft was caught blatantly stealing QT code in its media playback programs that made MSFT come to the bargaining table.)

You're absolutely right about the importance of MS Office '98 to the Mac market, though plummet is a pretty strong word. I'd say most iMac buyers don't go out and pay hundreds of bucks for Office. They use AppleWorks instead.

Btw, my projection is that Apple moves four million units this year, up from a 2.5 million run rate a year ago. It might be fair to estimate that CPU's Apple box sales will increase the same proportion.
