I think disc cache is an NT thing.

I thought it was a BIOS thing..but what do I no. I'll take a look next time in BIOS.

Is disc cache active if you are not doing anything?

I would think not if not accessing, but data would still be stored there so in that sense it would be active although not actively accessing...if that makes any sense

The only component left from my first machine..must be ten years old

Ok...I'll stop feeling sorry for you then<g>

It took about two hours to swap out the mobo and get the AOPEN machine up and running. I call that good luck

I misunderstood you then...I thought you couldn't get the Aopen to boot... no more tears for you then<gg>

As soon as one problem is solved another pops up

I hear ya, man.....the tinkering never seems to end

If I do the same thing twice and get different results..where is the logic? These machines have a mind of their own.

That was my point. Compounded problems easily put an end to any linear investigative attempts.

I had Mobil synthetic and they probably replaced it with something else

opps..once you start using synthetic ( on a new engine at least) not good to go back to crude. So I'm told..

How do I put in removable harddrives?

Are the external bays available? Isn't there room enough to run ribbon cabling? I'm not sure just what the problem is. If theres no room for fixed mount drives then the same would be true for removables..no?
