I couldn't disagree more. People always think it's a good idea to send someone else into war, but it focuses their minds remarkably when it's their own flesh and blood who will get killed or maimed. The cavalier way that people advocate "sending in the troops" has always made me bridle. I'm for universal service up to the age of 55. This will force the arm-chair gung-ho battalions to think long and hard about sending the army all over the globe in order to salve their feelings after a hard night of watching atrocities on CNN. Send Chelsea, send Albright's kids. Send Stephanopoulos. Let the yuppie vermin walk point.
