I heard on wall street week tonite that the last time they
raised margin requirements was in 1974. In fact they have only
raised margin requirements some 14 times since the FED was created.
Frank Capellio, like Carl Rohman, felt this was a more possible
action then raising interest rates. It was also stated that only about 5 %
of the investing public uses margin. Additionally, 13 of the 14 times that
the margin requirement was raised the market, I believe measured by the Dow,
actually increased.

As far as when the FOMC is to meet, by broker thought it was late march,
like March 29th or so?
