Mark,

I will take a crack at this:

1) On the permissions, are you logged on as an Administrator? I ?believe? this will dictate whether or not the permissions tab displays?

2) I believe the idle disconnect warning your seeing is coming from NT, and assuming you have a dial-up account to your ISP you should check your "Intenet Properties"

Start
>Settings
>Control Panel
>Internet ("Internet Properties")
-"Connection" tab / in the top part labeled "Connection"
you will see:

"Connect to the Internet using a modem"
"Connect to the Internet using a local area network"

select "Connect to the Internet using a modem" and the
"Settings..." button to the right will become available,
click on it.
You will get a "Dial-up Settings" dialog box, down near
the bottom you will see a "Disconnect if idle for |XX|
minutes" which you can check and uncheck and set a time
for.

There are, I'm sure, several ways to affect this parameter and this solution is based on the assumption that it is Win NT that is signaling the disconnect.
