I have some trader friends. They can see your stops, if you trade with their brokerage. There is no longer a floor in Canada so traders doing deals with each other with a wink and a knod is harder to accomplish. That doesn't mean they can't phone or email each other, but the possibilities for different brokerages to know each others cards are reduced somewhat,...unless you play futures in the States or trade the NYSE.

The speed of the market now limits such dirty dealings, but anything is possible, and probable.

Brokerage traders test the market all the time. They have access to momentum indicators on stocks and utilize all the latest gadgets to determine when a stock is ripe for the pickings. They also know depth by brokerage, a key tool we are denied. The brokerages still have the odds tipped in their favor. The stronger the internet gets, that less power these chits will have.
