An analyst at my firm feels that Iomega has moved to slow in bringing
new products out to market. He also feels that Iomega although extremely succsessful on the Zip, desperately needs to broaden their product portfolio in a quick and timely fashion. He discussed how the
Zip was 1 1/2 years old already and Jazz 1 year. He is concerned that if Iomega becomes to slow in bringing new products to market, larger competitors with more resources could leapfrog the tech. It is shocking that a near bankrupt company like Syquest could bring a
new removable 4.7GB hard drive out of blueprints so fast. In his opinion Syquest made IO look extremely bad. He also mentioned that
he is hearing that IOM has been discussing possible aquisition targets. One that was mentioned was SanDisk. Do the participants on this board feel that an aquisition would be in IOM best interests
at this stage.
