John,
I'm still fascinated by trying to assess after the fact what unknown factors may have been controlling CPQ's price moves during this last quarter or so. After seeing the IBM move I'm beginning to think that the big money on the street was not only aware of CPQ woes (Feb slip of the tongue), but scuttlebutt may have been that IBM was going to score big, especially in the service sector. If CPQ has been counting on big$ from service, and IBM shows up with immense profits, then CPQ really has its work cut out for itself and stands to reason that the street big money has been deserting! If I were to "see" CPQ's service biz as mostly old, stodgy DEC, then I would certainly be riding IBM's shirt tails this last quarter and not CPQ's.
