Lather, I agree, but not because option 1 "avoids the Preposition Terminus" (a superstition, not a rule) but, as you say, because "it has rhythm".

Which of these two sentences (variations on a theme by Winston Churchill) has more rhythm?

"That is the sort of superstition up with which I will not put."

"That is the sort of superstition I will not put up with."
