Angloforges $20 billion-a-year sales giant

"Johannesburg-based Anglo, ruled by the Oppenheimer family, has dominated South African business for eight decades and its decision to move headquarters and primary listing to London just four years into black majority rule has led to some criticism.
The company argues the move is necessary to access capital more cheaply and secure a leading position in the global mining industry.
Chairman Julian Ogilvie Thompson said the new-look Anglo -- which is expected to enter the top half of the UK's FTSE 100 index in June -- would be able to compete more effectively around the world and exploit new opportunities.
''As one of the world's leading mining and natural resource companies we will be well placed to take advantage of opportunities at the low points in the commodities cycles,'' he said."
