I agree, Americans should not get on Canadians...

If you look at Canada, we really have no industry that isn't forced by government. Virtually all industry in Canada is American owned or controlled. There are a few exceptions such as the banks. Foreign banks are essentially forbidden to operate in Canada. Americans are probably quite happy that Canadians are little more than a workforce for Americans. There are many instances of firms trying to start in Canada only to find it easier to do business in Canada as an American company. I expect the diamond industry will be no different. although I expect it to be some other country to dominate the Canadian diamond industry, SA, GB, or Australia. I highly doubt Canada will end up with control. Canadian politicians are more interested in filling their pockets in the short term than in doing any long term good for their country, case in point Quebec.
