CLK and Thall. In the 70's I worked on a number of Oil Shale projects. The capital costs are so high and the free market price of oil so low that without a federal policy oil shale will not happen in our lifetime. I've always thought that a case could be made for a federal investment as an antidote for sending billions of dollars overseas for oil imports. I knew the game would work when a South African project could not be justified. Also, does anyone know what the free market price of products are from SASol or is it subsidized to stay in operation,
