MEBANE, N.C. -- Fred Couples, Paul Azinger, Hal Sutton and Payne Stewart are scheduled to compete in a one-day charity golf event the day after this year's U.S. Open concludes at Pinehurst No. 2.
The first Tar Heel Skins Challenge will be held June 21 at the Mill Creek Golf Club in Mebane. The U.S. Open will be held June 17-20 at Pinehurst.

Couples, Azinger, Stewart and Sutton combined have won five majors, including one Masters, one U.S. Open and three PGA Championships.

Couples has 12 career victories and was the PGA Tour's Player of the Year in 1994. He has been a member of the last four U.S. Ryder Cup teams.

Azinger won 11 events from 1987 to 1993, including the 1993 PGA Championship. He was forced to stop playing later that year after he was diagnosed with lymphoma. He returned in 1994.

Stewart added a victory at Pebble Beach this year to his resume that includes the 1989 PGA Championship and the 1991 U.S. Open.

Sutton won seven times in his first five years on tour, including the 1983 PGA Championship. He added two victories last year, including the season-ending Tour Championship.

Event tickets are $25, with proceeds benefiting the University of North Carolina Children's Hospital.
