AT&T Bids For MediaOne, Topping Offer From
Comcast

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Long distance and cable television giant AT&T Corp.
(NYSE:T - news) Thursday offered to buy cable company MediaOne Group Inc. for
$58 billion in cash and stock, in an attempt to break up MediaOne's proposed merger
agreement with Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq:CMCSA - news)

AT&T, which recently acquired Tele-Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:TCOMP - news)
for $55 billion, said its offer represents a premium of 17 percent, or $8.6 billion, over the current value of Comcast's
offer and 26 percent over MediaOne's current trading price.
