Very interesting 12 year old article. I have no doubts that the KLA has its share of thugs, goons and psychopaths. OTOH even in this article there is no evidence of "ethnic cleansing" that Christopher was talking about. Tense interethnic relations yes, "black mask wearing guys breaking into apartments, killing all men, raing all women" NO.
The definition of "ethnic cleansing" has to be more stringent than an unstable conscript shooting up people in barracks(atleast imho).
Basically, you guys seem to be saying that since KLA or some random Kosovars comitted some atrocities it is OK for Serbs to go ahead and uproot millions of human beings, to rape, pillage and kill. And you think that your argument is strengthened by the fact that its happening in the boundaries of a sovereign country. I'd grant you that NATO is violating international law and exceeding its authority by far. Undoubtedly.
However, I think that any law that allows Hitler to kill Jews in the boundaries of Germany, the "Young Turks" to kill Armenians and the Serbs to kill Kosovars with such impunity(and on such a mass scale) is *wrong*. I think we can all cite technicalities till the cows come home, and talk about relative morality and different cultural standards etc. but the fact is that mass murder is wrong! That Milosevic and Arkan's rape camp, mass graves, documented bloodshed in Croatia and Bosnia is wrong. I don't care if you are a Serb or a Moslem or a Hutu! Maybe its time for new laws and a new sheriff. Who better than us?
