Clinton and Blair hardly need the Serbs to make them look like idiots, they are quite capable of that on their own. But this is not about individual personalities. On the other hand, once it is all said and done and the history books are written, the Serbs may well look like mass murderers and rapists on a scale not seen since the Nazis or the Khmer Rouge. Given a choice, I think most people would agree that that is worse than looking stupid.
As for NATO, there is every indication, that had they not intervened militarily, this nine year old ethnic war would have continued forever or at least until there was only one ethnic group left standing. If, in the end, NATO brings a stop to this brutal, internecine war, then I don't believe future generations will judge them idiotic. |
