One way or another, RTev, the consolidation of ATHM and RR will happen. The regulatory issues you think will stand in the way will only be a speed bump. There are going to be multiple "broadband" pipes into the home - see the WCOM/CWSS merger that was recently announced. ATHM will be a king. If Maffei goes to RR it will be to facilitate the insurance of MSFT's interest in how this plays out. The good news is that MSFT will be a part of the end game and since I own a ton of ATHM and MSFT, I expect to be on the winning team when all is said and done. Teflon
