RR is never in direct competition with ATHM in any way RR and @home are constantly in direct competition for the business of the cable operators. The mere fact we are discussing whether Comcast will leave @home for RR is proof of that. The issue then becomes whether a near monopoly over cable internet service is enough of a monopoly in the bigger picture of broadband internet to warrant regulation (or disallowing the merger). I have no idea of how regulators think in these situations, but if I were in their shoes I'd try to find a way encourage keeping @home and RR separate so I wouldnt have to think to hard about the real questions that are currently unanswerable.
