I grew up in Toronto. If someone in the US is willing, you can subscribe to DirecTV, use an American address as a billing address, and watch "real" TV instead of protectionist Canadian TV. That is if you live close to the border (Toronto, Windsor, Kingston, etc.) If you live too far up north, the signal might not reach.
