I can't wait to see what Lindy thinks of Intel's new strategy. For those who haven't read about it:

news.com

My thinking is that they picked an industry that has potential for huge growth and will be capital-intensive during the start-up phase. Intel's cash hoard will be their barrier to entry by competitors, but gorilla gamers would liked to have seen them move into an industry where their proprietary technologies offer them more protection. My guess is that Intel will satisfy gorilla gamers by buying companies to get the proprietary technologies that can be added to their relatively recent move into networking products. Those technologies, combined with their huge cash reserves, will be the key to the success of their Internet services insofar as keeping competition at bay is concerned.

Comments anyone?
