If yhoo is buying gcty and bcst, why is gcty going with rnwk? Anyone? GeoCities (GCTY: news, msgs) announced an option for members of its online communities to offer streaming audio and video on their Web pages. Called the GeoMedia Service, it uses RealNetworks (RNWK: news, msgs) technology. Adding audio and video will increase membership and build customer traffic, company president Thomas Evans said. He said it will also generate revenues because members will pay for additional disk space for file storage, beyond the 5 MB included when users pay a $4.95 set-up fee.
