You know it's quite possible that MaxNet uses an ad agency to get their ads instead of soliciting them from individual companies. a) It might be tough for MaxNet to convince many corps that advertising on their site demands a premium. b) It might be tough for companies like IBM to micromanage every single site whereon their ads are listed. As a result, companies which advertise a lot over the web probably pay an agency which with lots of web advertising probably pay an agency which holds a suite of ads. A company like MaxNet then gets money from the ad agency to host the ads. -G
