As I posted earlier(late december) one factor was a change in the laws
which apply to British mutual funds. They have a fixed percentage of
a company they can not hold more of per fund(for example 5% of fund
assets). They changed the law to include all subsidiaries added together
to come up with that figure. For Thermo Electron, it made it very
difficult for any British funds to own it because of the conglomerate
effect(Thermo shares are worth far less than the sum of its parts).
