<<< USR and 3COM have complimentary product lines; there is very little (I think Cowell said 2%) of overlap between them. They weren't really competitors. Now if Ascend and USR teamed up, there'd be alot of very difficult product consolidition to do. >>> I see. Hmmm, I've always assumed that they were competitors. At least when I read the annual reports they list 3 Com as one of them. Yes, I also believe USR and 3COM COMpliment each other very nicely. As mentioned before Casey Cowell is a futurist, and believes 3COM's LAN - USR's WAN industry are converging. Thus end to end connectivity solutions...blah blah..blah... You never know.... maybe Cisco might come up with a counter offer.
