Anthony wasn't clear exactly what he wants to do. If he want to move several hundred orphans out of Macedonia to the US, he has to have refugee visas. He also has to have an established organization to place the kids here. You don't just put them on a plane.

Washington just approved 20,000 temporary refugee slots for people to come to the US. I don't know how those people will be selected or processed. But the UN High Commission for Refugees office is probably the overall party in charge there. The declared US policy was to take refugees with family in the US or those too weak to endure refugee life in Macedonia.

Lying to receptionists to get through to overworked embassy staff will not get anyone a visa. By all means, contact your congressmen for support. But Anthony is looking a a few hundred people out of hundreds of thousands. Why should his be expedited while all the rest just sit there?

I said before that this will depend on US immigration law. My suggestion to all of you is to recognize that there is a system, put in place by the laws your congressmen and approved and staffed by people doing the best they can.

Nagging and insulting will not get you anywhere. Trust me, I have worked in embassies for 12 years and done a helluva lot for a lot of US citizens.

Give them a chance to work it all out.
