"[naked put] less [risk] than long the stock" yes, that is true. as you know, however, the long can reap the gains above the strike price, 55 in your case. in any event the premium is merely payment for the obligation one incurs to buy stock at a certain price. it is not a free lunch as another poster seemed to imply. welcome back. a spammer was recently apprehended on the microsoft board. did you run into him in the exercise yard? i'm long emc calls--i think you indicated you are short the put. good luck to us both. regards
