<<The respect for our military power has not been damaged.>>

Oh contrair Bill. The respect for our military power is/was two fold. On the one hand after the gulf war, everyone had to stand back in awe of the technical superiority. Of course prior to this everyone already knew we were the high ranking super power of the world for our fire power. I agree with you that although we have suffered some temporary embarrassment in this area we still have the capacity to deliver.

On the other hand the respect for our military was that it is a power for individual freedoms and a force for justice against tyranny in the world. Within our own borders and around the world, this principle is in doubt. Nice economy we are having today, wouldn't you agree?
