Every military discipline probably believes that it holds the proprietary key(s) to victory. I guess I was no different, believing in the overwhelming power of our Air Force. Truth be known, if the power of our Air Force was unleashed, unrestrained (I'm talking strictly non-nuclear) as opposed to the limited warfare we have self imposed upon ourselves in every conflict since WWII, then the war in Yugoslavia would be over and done with. The problem being is that there wouldn't be anything living larger than a cockroach and that's not our goal.

Having said that, I have to agree with the Army generals' contentions that we should not limit ourselves to an air only operation and also their assertion that the Serbs wouldn't stand a chance against a combined air/sea/land operation which be over, with the destruction of the Serb military, in short order.

I also find my self in the uncomfortable situation of agreeing with something Clinton said for the first time in the six years he has been in office, in that it is better to be debating what tactics to follow than to be sitting on our butts doing nothing.
