One important thing to realize with RCN is that they are building their systems to handle multi-servie billing - not something the AT&Ts and MediaOnes have. Also, RCN is highly focused in the highest customer spend areas. By the time AT&T and MediaOne, and the other players get their act together, RCN will have captured a ton of players. THEN they will sell. They have rather limited value till then. SO, it's in RCN's interest to grab as many customers as they can up front. If they get into a 'deal offer' pissing contest with AT&T, we all know who's going to win.
