El: Here is a Gettysburg Address post from she_x. Notice what she says about the big room at COMPAQ with all these people monitoring media. They probably put all the posts and letters in boxes labelled (1) The Kelley Box (channel stuffing conspiracies (2) Elwood Box - Worst Case Scenarios (3) Victor Box - Interview Scripts (4) Loki Box - Company Doctor Strategies (5) Rudedog Box - High Tech Manuals for the Masses (6) NW - Bottom Feeders Perspectives (8)Jimbo Box - Capitalistic Parasites - any more? (Scroll down for boldface)
Seriously, I have already suggested that we write a joint letter to Rosen. Maybe she_x could deliver it - I think I know how to e-mail it direct to him.

dusty she_xlr8s (44/F/TX) Apr 23 1999 12:34PM EDT your accessment of posts made by rude or i are hardly fair. as insiders the majority of what we were getting was great reports. when we did get anything less than that, it was posted too. everyone that ever claimed to have any inside info was very up on the stock, not just us. as far as not reporting any problems until the news is already out, well it's just like the woman who finds her husband in bed with another woman. it's only after the fact, that the evidence and indications always come to light. all the things we are hearing now are speculation as to what may have gone wrong. if in fact we had been aware of any problems within the company don't you think that we would have cashed out a long time ago along with 50000 employees. get real, this comes much more as a surprise to us than it does you and believe me we are a lot harder on ourselves over this than you can imagine. all in all we still see the great potential in this company and call me head cheerleader, call me the queen of denial, i still believe in CPQ. i still believe E.P. showed great leadership overall. i still believe that the CPQ strategy is sound. i do question a lot of the bookkeeping, forecasting and slow execution in some areas. i remain confident that this company will continue to be an innovative leader in the industry and will go up in value from here. as far as adding any disclaimer to all our posts to let everyone know how biased we are, well we have never made a secret of that, not that it's anyones business. just posting on a message board is a disclaimer in itself. rule #1...DO YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENGE!!! i suppose you think naysayer should add a disclaimer that he is short CPQ too. i posted that CPQ was coming up short on the numbers long before any analysts did. that is their job and they have access to alot more info than i do. i along with countless others just failed to see how serious the shortfalls were and unable to see how badly this would affect the bottom line. i told you forecasts were too high, i told you we had too many useless employees at DEC that needed to go. you didn't see the BOD showing any indication that things weren't up to par, so why would you expect rude or i to post any indications of problems. could it be that they weren't evident until now? hindsight is 20/20 and there isn't a person on this board that isn't feeling the sting, but finger pointing and negativity is not what we need now. what we need is to brain storm on improvements to public awareness of the company, site improvements, direction of AV, etc. and start a letter and email campaign to CPQ to call awareness to what we as investors, customers and individuals would like to see in the future. there is a big room over at headquarters with banks of TV's and PC's all keeping tabs on media, the market, message boards, etc. and rooms of employees that pour over emails, letters, phone calls, news articles, etc. we do have a voice and now more than ever are they willing to listen. i say we take advantage of this now and quit trying to figure out what went wrong. we may never have an answer to that and belabouring what we don't know is pointless. lets work on what we do know. we can make a difference. she |
