[COMS/USRX] An ADSL play?

If COMS can't hear ADSL is coming they will get the message
when the RBOCs start deploying ADSL instead of ISDN.
I think they saw the writing on the wall when the RFP contract
was awarded to Alcatel. Was Amati informed of the possible
COMS/USRX merger during the negotiation? The merger
makes more sense as an ADSL play which allows them
to compete with the big companies like ALA and NEC.

If Amati has a deal with USRX/COMS, I think that will put
a fire under CSCO. Consequently, Amati is in a better
position to extract a better deal (coproduction) from
CSCO. Or may be you have been talking to RC again.

As for the Sourcecom/MOT deal, my interpretation is
that the TI DSP chip has caused considerable upset
in the semiconductor industry. DSLAM makers will
use the TI chip instead of the CG chip unless MOT
has something special to offer.

Louie
