Craig,

This would be great news. If this happens, it would allow photo developers to "develop"
a roll of Clik-based pictures. I don't imagine anyone would drop off flash based memory
at the drugstore, but I can imagine someone dropping off a Clik disk into a photo
processing envelope, and then getting the developed pictures along with the original Clik
disk returned.

Maybe it's just me, but the reason I bought my Agfa ePhoto 1680 camera (and got a free Clik! drive with it) is because I don't want to pay for film or developing!.

I have two fairly sophisticated 35 mm SLR cameras with all kinds of lenses, tripod, etc. I also have a "good enough" Nikon compact 35 mm camera with a built-in zoom lens that will, also, take all the pictures I want with the quality that I require. When it comes to picture quality, all digital cameras really have to "struggle" to even come close to the quality obtainable with a fairly high quality 35 mm camera and, most importantly, good lenses.

I waited until I thought I could buy a digital camera that will take "comparable" pictures without buying film. For me, my Agfa camera is quite capable of taking pictures of the quality that I require. I assume I'm like the masses out there that take pictures on "whatever" occasions (vacations, family reunions, wedding receptions, etc.) only to look at or show them once or twice.....and then they set there forever in a box or some other place (such as an album) where they are kept.

If I want to occasionally print a picture, I have a fairly new HP722C printer with PhotoSmart technology that will print awesome pictures right from my computer.

My Agfa camera has a "video out" jack that, via a supplied cable, allows me to plug right into a "video in" jack of either any VCR or any TV so equipped. I can then put on a slide show right from the camera...showing the images stored on my SmartMedia card. I'm assuming the forthcoming Agfa camera with an internal Clik! drive will be capable of putting on a slide show directly from the images stored internally on a Clik! disk. I also bought an optional AC adapter ($49) directly from Agfa that allows me to run my camera forever without draining the rechargeable batteries during such an event. I think I'm "all set" now.

As far as storage goes, I'm likely to keep buying Clik! disks as if each disk were a "roll of film" and, to make sure I won't ever lose any images, I intend to copy the contents of each Clik! disk to my hard drive via the cable supplied with my Clik! drive. One can never be too safe you know. Having data stored redundantly reduces the statistical risk of losing it all to nearly zero.

Dave
