I was rebuffed. What would you have me do to avoid your implied disapproval? I didn't take that post as a rap on you, FWIW. On the contrary, I think you handled the situation well. Is there there still fallout over the issue now? If the extent of the parents'/kids' wrath was some pinheaded blurb in the local newspaper and there is no harrassment going on against you now, declare victory to yourself and move on. Personally I think you handled it the way any civilized person would have. Had you known the parents were going to behave as infantile as their kids you could have worked the issue direct with the utility and the fence would've just shown up and no one would have been the wiser.
