Tony, you may be right or you may be wrong. Clearly storage is a big big part of intel's designs. You are saying that intel will end up being a reseller of emc's storage (or somebody else's). Sort of like hp does, I guess. However while that may be the case in the beginning, since sue is right and emc has a huge headstart, I wonder whether down the line these grotesque margins will prove too tempting to intel and they will throw their hat in the ring. I mean, where else can you get those kinds of margins? Obviously we need to hear a lot more about intel's plans before knowing for sure, but I wouldn't be sure they will just be a system integrator and not re-invent the wheel. The way I read their release it sounds awfully ambitious. Remember intel spends BILLIONS on each chip factory, so a billion dollar headstart doesn't intimidate them at all. The market hates uncertainty so till this is made clearer we could have some problems here. I'm sure Barrons or somebody really big will be covering this intel news in detail pretty soon and we will know much more then. This is clearly the biggest news from intel since the mid-90's. I used to own intel but got out when they didn't jump on this project soon enough. I may get back in them again now that they are jumping into the action. emc will definitely not be affected financially for the next year but still the market looks ahead. If intel teams up with say ibm that could prove a pretty big problem for emc, don't you think?
