Rod, Interesting objective review. Intel is the only manufacturer who has had serious bugs with their chips.

Now Microsoft changed their NT 4.0 Operating System to deal with instability observed on one system that did not use a Cyrix approved motherboard. Fortunately, a software patch was provided to fix Microsofts bug.

I agree with one thing, the Klamath can not be confused with the next generation processor, its perforance isn't any better than whats available today.

This isn't anything new with Intel. Intel often releases a new processor with different pinout that performs the same as the old processor. When the 486-DX4 100MHz chips were shipping, Intel started to ship the 60MHz Pentium chip. Later on the fatal Pentium Floating Point bug was discovered and the rest is history.

I know plenty of people who are quite happy with their Cyrix Computer Systems.

Compaq looks like a winner with the Presario 2100, but time will tell.
