I just noticed that the sales.com website is finally open. Did Tom mention this in the conference call? If not, then there should be a press release about it soon that will be worth a few points of internet hype.

My first impressions of the site... The layout was slick, but the functionality seemed lacking, at least the free parts. There's a premium membership for $20/month that gives you more. The "Sales.com University" section is just a pitch for their $1000+ sales training seminars, and their contact generation feature is also fee-based. If they're trying to turn this into a real web portal, they need to offer more free content.

Clearly, Siebel is setting this up as a spin-off. They've already structured it as a separate entity, sales.com Inc. Could this be the next billion-dollar internet IPO? My guess is no, but I'd like to hear other views, especially from people who are in sales. Do you really want to chat with other salespeople around the world about whether the golf course is a good place to do business?
