The problem is everything is "supposedly" this and "supposedly" that whereas all we really know is that the chips will be fabricated using a .35 micron technology and that clock speed is something they do not want to talk about. It will be 1998 before they get any design wins for the K6, outside of the second-tier motherboard market, and by then it will be time for Dell, Compaq and the rest of the gang to start lining up orders for systems that will have everything but a case, keyboard and monitor, directly from Intel. Even on the low-end where AMD will find itself next year, Intel has some severe marketing muscle that can and should be used to slam the door on pesky competition.

The market is going to grow by 25% this year, not the 20% dataquest announced. The reason for that being the rate of growth appears to be expanding even as they come out with the upward revisions.
