SUN already has a 64 bit Sparc and Alpha is a 64 bit CPU - already out . so there is no big rush on that account. Intel is taking its time to make sure that Merced has the best chance of coming out of the chute good enough to sample. My guess is Merced will beat AMD's 64 bit CPU to market - by a long shot. That should make you cringe - eh cringe? Paul
