we seem to have a competition going between the NYSE and the NAS...the NYSE is losing business and market share to bubble.com...so it is not out of the realm of possibility that the NYSE wants to bloat IBM to exceed the market cap of MSFT. It's almost as if there's a runaway fractal multiplication of derivatives on the nas and the old-timers on the NYSE can't figure out what to do about it except create their own bubble and go along with the idiocy so they can keep their jobs.
Every time I watch CNBC now I imagine them saying "today we have an IPO on the hot plastic nose-ring internet company pierce.com, where you can order your bones and rings over the internet and watch live instructional shows showing creative installation. Here's our Maria on the floor today with her nose-ring....Maria comes on the screen from the NYSE with her nose-ring hanging over her lips.."we have a HUGE crowd around the post of the new IPO pierce.com, rumors flying about a deal with Merck to sell needles over the internet..oh we're up 300% in the first five minutes...."
yup.
